MotoTED Motorcycle Maintenance Workshop Risk Acknowledgement and Waiver
Nature of the Workshop
I understand that I am participating in a hands-on motorcycle maintenance workshop where I will learn how to inspect, maintain, repair and service my own motorcycle under the guidance of instructors.
I acknowledge that this is an educational workshop and that I remain responsible for all work carried out on my motorcycle.
Acknowledgement of Risks
I acknowledge that motorcycle maintenance involves inherent risks including, but not limited to:
Use of hand and power tools
Working with hydraulic lifts and jacks
Lifting heavy components
Exposure to fuel, oil, lubricants, solvents and cleaning chemicals
Hot engine and exhaust components
Electrical systems and batteries
Pinch points and moving mechanical parts
Slips, trips and falls
Fire hazards
Unexpected mechanical failure
Injury caused by incorrect maintenance procedures
I understand these risks may result in property damage, personal injury or death.
Participant Responsibilities
I agree that I will:
Follow all instructor directions.
Wear appropriate enclosed footwear and suitable clothing.
Wear all required personal protective equipment.
Not work on any motorcycle unless authorised.
Immediately report unsafe conditions.
Not operate workshop equipment unless instructed.
Not attend while affected by alcohol, illegal drugs or medication that impairs my judgement.
Conduct myself safely and respectfully at all times.
Condition of My Motorcycle
I acknowledge that:
My motorcycle remains my responsibility at all times.
The instructors do not guarantee that any repair or maintenance performed during the workshop is correct, complete or suitable for road use.
I am responsible for ensuring my motorcycle is safe before riding it.
Property Damage
I understand that I am responsible for any damage caused by my negligence or misuse of workshop equipment.
I accept responsibility for any damage I cause to my own motorcycle while participating.
Medical Declaration
I declare that I do not have any medical condition that would make participation unsafe, or I have disclosed any relevant condition to the workshop organisers.
If I become injured or unwell, I authorise staff to obtain medical treatment if reasonably necessary.
I understand that any medical costs remain my responsibility.
Privacy
I consent to the collection of my personal information for workshop administration, emergency contact purposes and legal compliance.
Release and Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I acknowledge the inherent risks associated with participating in this workshop.
I voluntarily assume those risks.
Except where liability cannot legally be excluded, I release the business, its owners, employees, contractors and volunteers from liability arising from the ordinary risks associated with my participation.
I understand that nothing in this agreement excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded under Australian law.

WARNING: If you participate in these activities your rights to sue the supplier under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 if you are killed or injured because the activities were not supplied with due care and skill or were not reasonably fit for their purpose, are excluded, restricted or modified in the way set out in or on this notice.
NOTE: The change to your rights, as set out in or on this notice, does not apply if your death or injury is due to gross negligence on the supplier's part. Gross negligence, in relation to an act or omission, means doing the act or omitting to do an act with reckless disregard, with or without consciousness, for the consequences of the act or omission. See regulation 5 of the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Regulations 2022 and section 22(3)(b) of the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012.
